The Wonderous Women of Iran

If you haven’t seen it yet, here recommended. This film by Marzieh Makhmalbaf, though made in 2000, describes an eternal inner landscape that reminds us those unforgettable dreams through which the psyche communicates with the waking mind.

At the same time the everyday struggle of being a woman in the Middle East is brought to the fore as are the bittersweet cornerstones – those universal truths – of womanhood, all against the delicious and surreal backdrop of Kish.
