Singer/ ney player Kalia visits the studio with her instrument to play live for us. Kalia grew up in Crete surrounded by folk music and moved to London for a degree in Ethnomusicology at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), specialising in ney and classical Arabic singing. Ney studies took her to Turkey, Lebanon, Syria and Egypt. To add to that Kalia got a Masters degree in Ethnochoreology researching the relationship between music and dance in the Mediterranean and Middle East. What a gem!
