Behrouz Vosoughi, Golshifteh Farahani and Soussan Farokhnia in a London performance of a Persian language production currently touring the world “A Private Dream“.
Behrouz Vossoughi (b.1938 in Khoy, West Azarbaijan, Iran) began acting with a role in Samuel Khachikian’s Toofan dar shahr-e ma. Vossoughi became a major star following his performance as the brooding hero in revenge drama Qeysar (1969). With over 50 years of experience and featured appearances in more than 90 films, he has garnered recognition at several international film festivals and as a classic movie television, radio, and theater performer.
Farahani, born into a family of actors, shot to international fame for her role in About Elly by Oscar winner Ashgar Farhadi. She reached even wider fame when she released topless photographs of herself in French magazine Madame Figaro, as well in a short film a short black-and-white film by Jean-Baptiste Mondino called Corps et Âmes – Bodies and Souls. She was however already very well known in Iran since at 14, she was cast as the lead in Dariush Mehrjui’s (director of the landmark Iranian film The Cow) The Pear Tree. At 14 which she won the Crystal Roc for Best Actress from the International Section of the 16th Fajr International Film Festival, Tehran.
Soussan Farokhnia has been tirelessly producing theatre and workshops for more than fifteen years with Saam Theatre company in London. She is a poet, director, actress and workshop leader, influencing her local community and the wider London Iranian arts scene. Farokhnia has taken part in the past in Six Pillars events reading her poetry, and we’re thrilled to see her in such an international production.
