Iranian Films – Tiburon International Film Festival, California

April 10-18th a series of world cinema is being promoted all over Bay Area California, USA.
Cuba, Africa, Austria, USA all feature in this festival which aims to internationalise cinema in an increasingly close world of information, travel and correspondence. Started in 2001, the festival has even copyrighted their strap-line “Understanding the World through Film“®,
It’s a big deal in California and now the festival has teamed up with Eurochannel for even greater exposure. So what have they chosen from and about Iran?

Description:
  Amir waits alone in Tehran for his son’s return from California to help him run the traditional family business. Caught between traditional values and personal integrity, Amir chooses to rethink and come to terms with the choices he has made in his life.

Description:
  Ghazal and her husband Farhad, who works in a laboratory, have been having their disagreements lately. When she tells him she is pregnant, instead of welcoming the news, he observes that it is a sin to bring a child in this world. Then he disappears. Ghazal comes home to find their apartment ransacked.

She is abducted and threatened. Her abductors want to know where Farhad is hiding. In fact he has left her a note on the refrigerator telling her that he has gone to a place called “heaven”. Strange things are happening. She finds out that Farhad’s lab had been conducting dangerous experiments and that Farhad absconded with the results..
