World Design Day, Tehran 2014

Each year Tehran’s Graphic Design Week bridges April and May, and this year opened at the Iranian Artists Forum, Momayez Gallery, off Taleqani Ave. with a show of posters by young artists; “Minus 30”.

Works by 168 graphic designers aged under 30 were taken  from all over Iran and selected by a jury panel, drawing masses of interest from all over the country.

Featured was a solo exhibition of works by veteran graphic designer Abbas Saranj and German

Hickmann: Amnesty Series

Hickmann for Amnesty

graphic designer Fons Matthias Hickmann (b.1966) who has attracted some interest in Iran for his influence on modern design. Hickmann is a Professor of Communication Design at the Berlin University of the Arts founded the “Fons Hickmann M23” studio, which focuses on the design of complex communication systems.

The week-long program was put together with year by the Iranian Graphic Designers Society with guidance from the International Council of Graphic Design Associations (ICOGRADA) to celebrate World Graphic Design Day on April 27th. Below is a short video made by ChapChin Studio, an arts studio founded by Farid Yahaghi and Davood Morgan in 13th August 2011, which was World Left-Handed Day, as they are both ‘lefties’.
