Veteran Lebanese photographer Lucien Samaha visits Dubai, UAE represented by Lombard Fried Gallery. Travelling the world since the age of 11, he recounts his experiences and attitude to photography. His most renowned series “The Flight Attendant Years: 1978-1986” document his work on the airlines. His odd jobs have given him access to some of the most interesting subjects in 70-80s photography, he was even a DJ and radio presenter for a long period of time.
“I’m more than a photographer, I’m a cook, I’m a lover.”
Samaha has shown at the Museum für Moderne Kunst in Frankfurt, Germany; the Württembergischer Kunstverein – Stuttgart, and the Cooley Gallery, Reed College, Portland, OR USA. His ever-increasing catalogue of around 350,000+ photographs is entirely searchable as he has fastidiously archived them all. Samaha is by his own definition, as much a photographer as an obsessive social archivist.
