Saam Theatre Company present an ambitious five days of theatre celebrating Iranian Culture. The festival invites audiences to meet Iranian actors, directors and playwrights from all over the world of Iranian origin, as they devise and perform works in Persian.
Also on display is an art exhibition by Iranian artists who have yet to be named. However the drama line up includes names like Bahman Forsi, Reza and Hamid Daneshvar and Ayda Mansouri a line up which you can read (mostly in Persian) HERE. While the festival seems a little inward-looking (it seems some of the events are in Paris and Amsterdam but it’s not clear how they are linked), this is the first of it’s kind in the UK, combining audience and participants in theatrical devising, and as always for Saam, keeping that strong community connection as opposed to pitching their events as high-end, out of reach productions as previous UK-Iran theatre events have delivered in the past.
