Iranian artist Samira Hodaie visits United Arab Emirates for her first solo show in the country “And the Dance Goes On” opens this week at Cube Arts gallery, DIFC, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The Tehran-based artist’s pointillist work draws from Iranian and Islamic heritage, embracing elements of pop culture and appearing at once like pixelated digital images, and like a mechanised carpet weave.
Samira is supported by Cube Arts, Dubai and AB Gallery, Switzerland and is already in the collection of several established international collectors.
Broadcasts Tuesday 28th October 21hrs, repeats Thursday 4pm on 104.4FM in London and online. Listen here via Radio Player. Recorded at Cube Arts, Dubai.
Hodaie studied her Bachelors at the Al Zahra University, Tehran and trained in design. She worked for six years as the assistant of the internationally known artist Reza Derakshani while participating in group exhibitions in Tehran.
As an Artist in Residence at the ORYX Foundation Lucerne, Switzerland Hodaie flourished, and quickly her works took on the “appeal the absurdity of society as one person, as one woman”.
