This week we sample the new album and a string of recordings made with electronic experimenter Hassan K. Over the years, we’ve made a few people appear in person after months of solely 2d correspondence online. A diary of deletable messages, perhaps not even a Skype call later and someone was on our doorstep, instruments in hand. One of the most amazing of these, was several performances by French Algerian-Iranian Hassan K who popped over the English Channel to demonstrate his open source hardware and data hacking with Iranian gabba surf in London, a video of which is below.
The Mosaic Rooms in Edgware and the upstairs of a pub performance space in Fitzrovia were shaking with the effect of guitar, slide controller and indoor explosives. The best part, above all, was a jam we had in my home studio, a few extracts of which are below.
This new album shows a sensible progression from earlier albums we’ve aired. While the mathematical chaos remains, especially in Munduns imaginatis Level 1, the lilting tracks (e.g. Chirini) and the abstract ones And finally, as the audience pressingly requested during his London performance, the download is no longer free, but Pay What You Will. Perhaps now, Hassan K will be able to afford that second tee shirt for his tour…
Broadcasts Tuesday 9.30pm and repeats Thursday 4pm GMT, listen on 104.4FM across London or with the Radioplayer online.
