Politicising Tourism in Palestine features speakers Open Bethlehem film maker Leila Sansour, Ryvka Barnard Senior Campaigns Officer (Militarism and Security)at War on Want, and Yael Friedman a lecturer at the University of Portsmouth and previously SOAS, London on film theory and practice in Arab cinema currently researching her book: Outsiders Within: Palestinian Filmmaking in Israel as well as research on the Haredi (Ultra-Orthodox) cinema in Israel. The event was chaired by Nina Fischer, Teaching Fellow in Religious Studies at the University of Edinbrugh’s School of Divinity, where she specialises in Jewish Studies.
Shohini Chaudhuri has been an academic in the Literature, Film and Theatre Studies department of the university of Essex since 1998, teaching contemporary writing and film. Her publications include:

Her article with Howard Finn on New Iranian Cinema was published in Screen and reprinted in two anthologies, Screening World Cinema, ed. Catherine Grant and Annette Kuhn (2006) and Gender, Genre, Race, and World Cinema, ed. Julie Codell (2007).
Shohini has recently written a chapter of the anthology Disappearing War: Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Cinema and Erasure in the Post-9/11 World, ed. Christina Hellmich and Lisa Purse, 2016.
