To launch a new season of Six Pillars we mark the current London Design Biennial running until 23rd September at Somerset House, with 40 countries, cities and territories exhibiting under the theme Emotional States.
Dance, hashtags, sound art, new technology and desert sand are among the mediums used to explore emotion in the usually more pragmatic arena of design. The LDB’s Managing Director Sumi Ghose and the artist/designer of the Lebanese Pavilion, Nathalie Harb (pictured below), visit the studio to discuss the main themes, Middle East and North Africa’s participation in the biennial, and forthcoming talks and workshops.
The biennial is a ticketed event but you can visit Harb’s pavilion on Waterloo Bridge (Somerset House terrace, on the river) freely. A sound piece upstairs plays near-silence recorded in Beirut.
Repeats Wednesday 1-1.30pm
On-air on 1404.fm, on digital radio (in London) and online.
